A Day the World Seemed Small

S:  Our first Sunday here we walked to church.  (We thought the English branch started at 11:30 so we got there at 11:15 to make sure we were early but it actually had started at 11 so of course we were late.  Story of my life. ::sigh:: )

The church is stacked so that classes/rooms are on different floors.

After a week of craziness and feeling so far away from familiarity we walked inside a building where it immediately felt like home. It's funny how we had never stepped foot here before but the consistency of the church makes you feel that you know where you are.

Isn't this such a beautiful church building?  This walkway is literally the separation from the church and temple.

The ward was extremely welcoming!  At least six people came and gave us their phone numbers and so many people asked how we were and if they could help us in any way.  Most of the members here are from the states with the foreign service or on business endeavors.  Some are from Croatia and Brazil.  But there are a good number of people from Asian countries.

When I walked into Relief Society a gaggle of women audibly gasped and yoinked Michelle out of my arms before I could realize what was happening.  They were freaking out over her.  One of the women in broken English actually dismissed me.  She said, "We take care of baby.  You go" and she shooed me away smiling.   The Relief Society president gave an amazing lesson on Christ and shared this talk that blew me away.  (I had never heard this one before and it is astounding!)  It's funny because I had read the R.S. president's blog before coming here and it was crazy how I knew how many kids she had and things about their family and then here they all were!  This world is so funny how you can know so much about people you don't even know.

We walked back to the hotel to check out after a really nice time at church.

Saw the 101 on our way.  Dan took this.  People always assume I have the artistic eye but this guy has quite a knack for finding pretty things.

Gotta keep the girl entertained while we pack up.  What better than sugar cane?

Bye bye Dandy hotel

Sweet Danny helped us move into our new place and she even had made a curry dinner for us and brought some things we might need for living like dish soap and paper towels etc.  I again, am so grateful for the way we have been watched over here and for kind people in this world!
